Wuddup pedalers!
Lately I've been riding with the Morning Ride Crew. The name is probably taken from their habit of riding before the sun's up :) I mean, they do get up early to ride most of the time hahahahaha.
Anyway, their have healthy fast bikes and I had some problem keeping up.. well, not that I couldn't keep up or anything, but it did take a lot to do that and at the end I end up loosing my breath and always the last to ride in the group (yeah I'm a bit competitive hahahahaha).
So I spoke to a couple of guys that recomended me to do a couple of things if I want to keep up with the pack.. one is to upgrade my wheelsets, to upgrade the size of my crank from 46t to 48t or 50t, and to get a new set of bottom brackets.
Considering budget and availability of products, I decided to upgrade my wheelsets first. I got new chrome-anodized Vuelta Airline 42s and Vuelta bearing hubs (including a freewheel that I'll probably never use).
Pretty awesome, right? :) The performance went straight up. I can directly feel the difference. I'm now head-to-head with any Cinelli Mash of the same specs.. now it all depends on whose calves are bigger hahahahahaha. I recomend doing this if you want to go faster and to burn more calories. I'm now riding faster, as seen in the trainer app I use on my Blackberry (you can track my results here: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150149112876411.342933.562981410)
It did cost me a bit of my salary, though hahahahaha. But with some money left, I was still able to get a set of stickers from my good friends at Infinity Customs to match the speeding upgrades, as you can see below:
From lovely-Sunday-roadrunner to weekend-speedster, Please welcome the VISP TRX791 Limited Edition Pro Track Sports!
Note to self: Get new 48t crank, get new bottom bracket, and a new chain on my next upgrade.
At the end, it's not about how good the bike looks but how close you can keep up with the leader of the pack :)
Until then, enjoy riding and be safe on the road.
Regards,
Donny a.k.a Speeder
